Concept
Sanctuary Villas in a tranquil forest.
Enveloped in the constantly changing lush nature of Japan’s four bountiful seasons, Hakone’s Miyanoshita area is a one-of-a-kind paradise. Here, 100 meters down in a secluded and unexplored valley, lies ESPACIO The Hakone Geihinkan Rin-Poh-Ki-Ryu, a beautiful retreat surrounded by nothing but calm, peaceful silence and the gentle murmuring of the nearby river. This place was simply made for Hakone.

Rooms
ESPACIO, which means “space” or “universe” in Spanish, offers you the keys to a mystical journey. Our retreat is a place of healing, peace, and joy – a calm sanctuary reserved for only a select few each night.
Facilities
Located along the Tokaido road, just beyond the steep pass of Hakone, the Upper Reception serves as the gateway to our tranquil retreat. Just as samurai warriors of Japan‘s past took off their armor and visited the local hot springs to heal their wounds and fatigue, we will guide you to a similar bliss deep within the peaceful valley below, far removed from the hustle and bustle of the world.
Art
Each guest room is decorated with works by various artists who have captured the divine and auspicious symbols of the Kirin, Phoenix, Tortoise and Dragon deities from different perspectives. Kumiko woodwork, Japanese washi paper, karakami paper, lacquer, and plaster all feature in traditional Japanese craftsmanship, yet the tactile works displayed here are innovative and sophisticated. The incarnations of deities and auspicious scenes help create a serene space, perfect for relaxing and unwinding in.
