HIROTO RAKUSHO
GOLD AND SILVER LEAF ARTIST
Gold leaf production is a traditional industry of Nishijin, Kyoto Prefecture. Using this technique, gold and silver leaf artist Hiroto Rakusho has been engaged in the reproduction of national treasures, important cultural properties, and the like. At the same time, he has been deeply involved in the art world, working in Paris, New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Kuwait. Hiroto's works are composed of a wide range of contrasts, and they evoke “in-ei raisan,” a uniquely Japanese value of beauty, in which yin and yang, stillness and movement, light and darkness are contrasted, and a world of restrained beauty unfolds.
