TACHIBANA TOMOYA
SCULPTOR
Skilled sculptor Tachibana Tomoya is credited with creating a technique called ‘ayauchi,’ in which a metal mold is hammered into a metal sheet to create an ornate pattern. In ayauchi, living creatures and scenery are imbued into the metal through careful hammering and sculpting. Tachibana uses this unique technique to interact with the material and bring out various expressions such as sound and wind, which are invisible, as well as more tangible concepts like fire and light. In Tachibana's hands, inorganic objects seem to be transformed into organic beings.
